Tree-mendous Air Fresheners

Trees are God’s cleaning and cooling machines. Leaves suck in air, including chemicals, and then move those chemicals to the roots. Tiny creatures that live in a tree’s root system change the chemicals into food. Trees breathe out clean oxygen we need to breathe. Plants help too, but trees are much bigger and do the cleanup faster. Plants become great helpers at cleaning air indoors (it’s hard to grow a tree inside a house). Trees can’t clean up all the air, so we also need to change our habits that add gases to the earth.

Plants to Purify Indoor Air

Plants can be amazing roommates. They help create more oxygen while removing pollution and toxins from the air around you. To top it off they never complain about what you’re doing or even if you room is a mess (although, they’ll droop if you forget to water them). Here are just a few recommended houseplants and the great help they can be in your home. Ask your parents about getting one to take care of and help your home freshen up a bit.

• Spider plants are great for removing xylene, a chemical found in rubber gloves and printing inks.
